Dr.P.Saikumar  declared that  so far 212 physiologists have registered as life members of the APT

4

Launching of website

Dr.P.Saikumar announced the launching of website of the APT. He requested the present organising secretary to pass the information about this conference proceedings to the webmaster Dr.Nandhini so that the website can be updated. He also requested others to visit the website for any information regarding the APT activities. www..aptn.org.in

5

BAPT journal

Dr.P.Saikumar appreciated the  BAPT Editor Dr.Murali  for bringing out the journal successfully on time and requested him to continue his good work . Dr.Murali thanked the review committee members for their excellent cooperation and support. He added that due to some personal reasons, he is unable to continue as the Editor and he proposed Dr. Saravanan from Madurai Medical College for the Editor post.  Dr.P.Saikumar suggested that all 78 abstracts that were presented in this conference can be converted into full text article and can be sent to BAPT for publication purpose before the next conference.

6

Membership status of other state physiologists

Dr.P.Saikumar said that the present organizing secretary has given chances to other state physiologists to present their paper though not approved by the Board. When they are allowed to present papers, why not they be considered for a temporary membership for 1 or 5 year without giving them the voting right  so that the APT may get benefited.
Dr.Mythili Baskaran immediately said that let us stick to our  initial  stand of enrolling only Tamilnadu physiologists(those who graduated/work  in TN)  as members. The other state physiologists can be allowed to present /publish their research papers.
Dr.Sathya Subramani  added that an additional fee may be collected from them and allow them to present /publish their research work instead of giving them the membership status
Dr.Tamilkodi remarked that they can be provided the membership status so that our association will also expand.
Dr.Rajendran said that the voting right should not be given to them.
Dr.A.S.Subhashini  remarked that the privilege of  hosting the conference should be given only for TN physiologists.Dr.Madanika Madhavan  added that the very purpose of starting this state association will be lost if we give membership status to other state physiologists.Dr.ChandraBose said that annual membership can be given to them.
Dr.Sathya Subramani added that the development of this small group of physiologists within this state is essential. Later, this can grow as Federation of Regional Association. Let it stay small now. Let this association be benefited by the scientific contribution of other state physiologists and let it not aim for monetary benefits.
Dr.P.Saikumar finally concluded as follows regarding this issue

  • Other state faculty/postgraduate  physiologists can be accommodated as guests
  • No membership status will be given for them
  •  No voting right will be given for them
  • Can present papers in the conference
  • Can contribute for the journal

7

Presidentship to organizing secretary?

Dr.P.Saikumar said that it is good to review the byelaws of the APT in electing the new office bearers.
Dr.Mythili Bhaskaran remarked that the President post need not be linked to the post of organizing secretary who is only responsible for organizing the conference. If this is delinked, it will result in improving the functioning of association.
Dr.Sathya Subramani added that if it is delinked, more will propose to organize.
Dr.Madanika Madhavan said that Presidentship is a honour to those who organize the conference.
Dr.A.S.Subhashini and Dr.Tamilkodi suggested the same views as Dr.Madanika.
Dr.K.Dilara asked the Secretary to define the duties of the President which will help others to decide on this issue.
Dr.P.Saikumar replied that there is not much role for the President. The Organising Secretary and the Editor have more responsibilities. But, to go by the byelaws, we have these posts.
Dr.Dilara and Dr.Thangam suggested not delinking Presidentship from Organising secretaryship.
Dr.Sembulingam suggested that the organizing secretary can be honoured by giving the President ship in the subsequent year as he/she is only incharge of conducting only the conference. Other events are also there.
Dr.Sathya from Stanley Medical College said that the duration of Presidentship should be increased allowing the President to do something.
As there  were varied responses, finally it was agreed to go for voting.

  • Twenty five voted for delinking
  • Ten voted for no delinking

Hence, it was decided to delink the Presidentship from the Organising Secretary.

8

Election of office bearers

Dr.P.Saikumar proposed Dr.Vishwnatharao for the post of President and it was seconded by Dr.Rajendran and Dr.Chandrabose.
It was decided to continue the tenure of the rest of the committee as per the byelaws
Committee members were reconstituted with the following members
Dr.P.Saikumar suggested that Dr.Neelambikai will be the Vice President. Dr.Umayal, Dr.Sarayu, Dr.P.Sathya,and Dr.Meena will be the new executive committee members which was approved by GBM voice vote.

9.

Issue of non involvement of APT in the Vellore Quiz case

Dr.P.Saikumar on behalf of APT, declared that from henceforth the host colleges will not be allowed to participate in the quiz program.
He also added that the APT could not take any action regarding the issue of a case against the Organising Secretary of the quiz program in Vellore as the association didn’t receive any written request from both the parties and as it was more of a personal problem between those two parties.
He also requested not to club the quiz in a conference as it happened this time sice it interferes with the routine conduct of a conference.
